For locals and expats alike, finding the best Asian food in Strasbourg has become a delightful quest, diverging from the city’s traditional Alsatian fare.
Over the past five years, I’ve had the pleasure to discover some of Strasbourg’s standout Asian eateries. While this article doesn’t cover every possible option in Strasbourg, all of the options listed below are a) delicious and b) hold real meaning to me.
One of the Thai restaurants mentioned is the one Thibault and I lived above when we first moved in together back in 2019. In another case, I wouldn’t know where to find the best bowl of Pho in Strasbourg if a local French woman with Vietnamese heritage hadn’t told me where she and her family go.
So, whether you’re after a food-coma-inducingly delicious bowl of Chinese noodles, a zesty Thai pad, or a delicate sushi platter, you’ve come to the right place. Asian food in Strasbourg is surprisingly and delightfully diverse, ready to satisfy your cravings with its rich array of flavors.
Why Asian food in Strasbourg?
It’s a totally valid question. Strasbourg is the proud heart of Alsace, a region famed for its rich Alsatian dishes. While many tourists come to experience the creamy richness of the local fare, it happens often that one or two experiences will suffice. Non-locals unaccustomed to the caloric heap of creamy goodness typically draw back after trying a few must-have dishes.
Which brings us to the allure of Asian restaurants in Strasbourg. In a region that worships sausage, lard, and cream, and considers root vegetables to be the lighter end of the meal, Asian food offers a refreshing contrast.
Expats, students, and tourists alike are drawn to this variety, seeking alternatives that are not only lighter but also brimming with flavor. Asian restaurants in Strasbourg cater to a diverse palate, presenting an array of vegetarian-friendly options alongside meat dishes, all characterized by their rich spices and fresh ingredients.

Did you eat somewhere that should be on this list? Let me know in the comments, and bon appétit !
Pho Kim Saigon on the corner of Rue du Faubourg de Saverne and Rue de Pâques, close to Place des Halles. It’s tiny and hidden away, and while I really have zero experience with real Asian food, I think they’re genuine. I always veer towards duck and broth, and it hits the spot every time.
Ooh, I will have to try this place! Thanks for the rec 😀
